Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Somerset Academy South Homestead walked away with it. They blew past the Hurricanes 55-19 on the road on Wednesday. Somerset Academy South Homestead has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 23 points or more this season.
Somerset Academy South Homestead relied on the efforts of Sakura Barnes, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Justice Sheppard, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten assists. Barnes is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Joann Barnes, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Palmer Trinity scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Westminster Christian with a sharp 68-42 victory. The win was some much needed relief for Palmer Trinity as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
The victory (which was Somerset Academy South Homestead's third in a row) raised their record to 14-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Palmer Trinity, their victory bumped their record up to 11-12.
