The Druid Hills Red Devils just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Miller Grove Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Druid Hills is ranked 373rd, while Miller Grove is ranked 390th).
Druid Hills suffered their biggest defeat since November 20, 2023 on Thursday. They were beaten by Southwest DeKalb 69-22. Druid Hills has struggled against Southwest DeKalb recently, as their contest on Thursday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Miller Grove earned a 42-31 win over Stone Mountain on Tuesday. The win was just what Miller Grove needed coming off of a 82-26 defeat in their prior game.
Miller Grove's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaeslyn Benjamin led the charge by scoring 13 points along with six steals. Benjamin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Arieyona Christion was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with ten rebounds and five steals.
Druid Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Miller Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
Druid Hills skirted past Miller Grove 47-45 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Druid Hills since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
