The Evangel Christian Lightning typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday the Rocket City Falcons proved too difficult a challenge. They snuck past the Lightning with a 46-42 victory. That's another feather in the cap for Rocket City, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Elizabeth ( Bess ) Shea continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 17 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Trotter, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Several Lightning players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hallie Wells, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Bailey Bullock, who scored 12 points.
Rocket City is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Evangel Christian, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rocket City won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the at 3:15 p.m. on February 3rd. Tennessee Heat is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses. As for Evangel Christian, they will be playing at home against the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
