Northview is 2-7 against Terre Haute South Vigo since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Tuesday just wasn't the day for Northview's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Putnam on Tuesday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 7, 2019, but that streak is no more.
Maggie Krause spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Northview saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Batchelor, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
Linton-Stockton hit Terre Haute South Vigo with a four-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Braves fell 10-7 to the Miners.
Marcia Parker made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Maiya Childs also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Northview's record now sits at 9-9. As for Terre Haute South Vigo, their record is now 4-14.
Terre Haute South Vigo's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Northview has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Terre Haute South Vigo, though, as they've been averaging only 3.2 strikeouts. Will Northview keep running through batters, or will the Braves buck the trend?
Northview skirted past Terre Haute South Vigo 3-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
