The ceremony took place in a halftime celebration during the boys basketball game against longtime school rival Central Bucks West. The travel team arrived early to give the students a chance to see the impressive national ranking trophy and to talk to the Pennsylvania Nation Guard member Staff Sergeant Frank Tucker.
Later in the evening the crowd in the gym was buzzing with great enthusiasm for the game and excitement in anticipation for the celebration. At the beginning of halftime, MaxPreps representative Ray Dungee introduced the Tour of Champions to the crowd. As Dungee finished his congratulatory message, he told the crowd that their Central Bucks East soccer team finished No. 5 in the nation out of 10,000 soccer teams across the country. Next, Ray introduced SSG Tucker for the main event.
SSG Tucker spoke about the commitment to excellence the coaching staff has instilled in the school and soccer team. He paralleled the traits found on a championship team with those found in the Army National Guard – commitment, dedication, hard work, perseverance and more. He then presented the Army National Guard Minuteman trophy to the coaching staff. As he handed the trophy to the coaching staff and the team, the packed gymnasium started to cheer.
The coaches were thrilled and humbled by this national attention. They thanked both the Army National Guard and MaxPreps for recognizing their players as they know how hard they team worked to get to the top of championship podium.
Congratulations to the Patriots on a great season and high national ranking.
