North Thurston dropped to 8-7 on Wednesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 8-0 to the Timberline Blazers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blazers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 back in March.
North Thurston saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sara Halterman, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.
As for Timberline, they pushed their record up to 15-3-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games.
On Timberline's side, Nevaeh Haagen made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Haagen has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kayleese Dorfner and Leovi Meno-Meyers did most of the damage at the plate: Dorfner went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Meno-Meyers went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run. That triple marked the first that Dorfner has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Brookelyn Read, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
North Thurston has already played their next contest, a 27-2 victory against Capital on the 4th. As for Timberline, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 10-0 defeat against Montesano on the 1st.
