The Darien Blue Wave's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 61-45 fall against Staples. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Darien has scored all season.
Staples found their leader in underclassman Sam Clachko, who scored 30 points along with six assists and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Clachko has scored at least a third of Staples' points. Nick Sikorski was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds.
Darien's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Staples, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Darien will take on Trumbull at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Trumbull knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 contests -- so hopefully Darien likes a good challenge. As for Staples, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Greenwich at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Greenwich is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
