Softball Recap: Lincoln Starts Season with Win on the Road

Lincoln had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against Holy Names Academy by a score of 10-7 on Tuesday. The Lynx have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw Holy Names Academy, too.

Ruby Hughes looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Anja Ticen was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Nash Cochran, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Lincoln kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holy Names Academy only managed seven hits.

Holy Names Academy is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln will square off against Bishop Blanchet at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Holy Names Academy, they will take on Ballard at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
