Peabody is 5-0 against the Cougars since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Peabody Warhorses will be playing in front of their home fans against the Grant Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Saturday, Peabody faced the Wildcats in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Peabody fell to the Wildcats 67-62. Peabody has not had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jordan Mathews, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. He hasn't dropped below two blocks for nine straight games. Robert Garland was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Grant's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight loss. Their rough 83-61 loss to Franklin Parish might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Grant can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while the Patriots are ranked 48th).
Peabody's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 25-6. As for Grant, they dropped their record down to 5-20 with that defeat, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Peabody against the Cougars in their previous meeting last Friday as the team secured a 91-10 win. Will Peabody repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
