Sharon is 2-8 against Slippery Rock since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Tigers will square off against the Rockets at 4:00 p.m. Sharon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.4 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Sharon made easy work of Franklin and carried off a 12-1 victory. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Ethan Engelmore looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Derek Douglas was a standout: he scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Carmine Thomas was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 1-for-2.
Sharon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Slippery Rock ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 victory over Grove City. The Rockets' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Jacob Kunsman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. Kunsman was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Parker Dalcamo was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Doug Popovec, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
Sharon's record is now 4-1. As for Slippery Rock, their record now sits at 3-0.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Sharon has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Slippery Rock struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Sharon came out on top in a nail-biter against Slippery Rock in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
