If the Durham Academy Cavaliers were riding high off their 62-36 takedown of the NCSSM: Durham Unicorns last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The contest between Durham Academy and Jordan wasn't particularly close, with Durham Academy falling 64-46. Durham Academy lost against Jordan in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 72-69 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Durham Academy lost on Wednesday, one person who can't be blamed is JJ Wilcox. Despite the final result, he scored ten points along with seven rebounds. Joe Ruth was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Durham Academy has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season. As for Jordan, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Durham Academy will take on Cary Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jordan will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Chapel Hill at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Hopefully Chapel Hill focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Friday.
