The Monroe-Woodbury Crusaders will be home for the holidays to greet the Beacon Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Monroe-Woodbury is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
Last Saturday, Monroe-Woodbury earned a 65-52 win over Monsignor Scanlan. Given Monroe-Woodbury's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Monsignor Scanlan is ranked 148th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Monroe-Woodbury got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kyle McDermott out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Pearson, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Meanwhile, Beacon had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They claimed a resounding 66-37 victory over Chelsea at home. That looming 66-37 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Beacon yet this season.
Monroe-Woodbury's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Beacon, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.
