Basketball Game Preview: Oxon Hill Clippers vs. Douglass Eagles

Oxon Hill has won ten straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Douglass has won ten straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Oxon Hill Clippers will host the Douglass Eagles at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Oxon Hill's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

On Saturday, everything went Oxon Hill's way against Northwestern as Oxon Hill made off with a 75-49 win. The Clippers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Oxon Hill had a senior duo take command as William Johns posted 26 points and Donnell Dorsey scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johns has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nigel Harris, who put up eight points.

Meanwhile, Douglass won against North County last Saturday with 65 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. Douglass rang in the new year with a 65-57 victory over Bowie.

Oxon Hill better keep an eye on Solomon Lewis. He was instrumental in Douglass' win, going 6 of 11 on his way to 19 points and eight rebounds. That's the most boards Lewis has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Curtis Valentine, who had nine points and three steals.

Oxon Hill's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Douglass, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.

Oxon Hill lost to Douglass at home by a decisive 88-74 margin in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Thankfully for Oxon Hill, Emmanuel Carson (who went 14 of 22 on his way to 36 points and six rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
