6A District 1 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Henderson County was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Meade County 16-8. The Colonels came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.
Muhlenberg County and Hopkins County Central played the most hotly contested game in 6A District 1 this week, with Muhlenberg County eventually emerging with a 28-26 victory.
Daviess County's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jared McEwen threw for 280 and three touchdowns and Blake Roberts had 170 yards receiving. On the ground Chase Lecroy chipped in 43 yards. Darren Jones helped Daviess County's passing attack out by catching four balls for 69 yards.
Daviess County's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Luke Bailey has thrown for 322 yards and one touchdown this season, while Roberts has 33 catches for 438 yards. Darrius Crite leads the league in rushing with 251 yards.
The Panthers led the league in scoring this week after putting up 43 points on Webster County. McEwen in the win.
