Bishop Gorman has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Liberty Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nevada (Bishop Gorman is ranked second, while the Patriots are ranked sixth).
Bishop Gorman put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They breezed by Desert Pines at home to the tune of 63-32. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Bishop Gorman had established a 22 point advantage.
Bishop Gorman got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Neeyah Webster out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Chestnut, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Liberty narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Blue Knights 39-37. The win made it back-to-back wins for Liberty.
Liberty's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daisha Peavy, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. Peavy is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Satsuki Bradley, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Bishop Gorman pushed their record up to 18-4 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Liberty, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.
Bishop Gorman came up short against the Patriots when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 59-53. Thankfully for Bishop Gorman, Adrienne Puletasi (who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
