McLean is 8-2 against Herndon since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The McLean Highlanders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Herndon Hornets at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, McLean was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 52-46 to Washington-Liberty. McLean has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Herndon, who are still winless after their tenth matchup. They took a 54-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Meridian on Monday. While losing is never fun, Herndon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 328th, while Meridian is ranked 98th).
McLean's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Herndon, they dropped their record down to 0-10 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.
McLean beat Herndon 42-32 when the teams last played on January 3rd. Does McLean have another victory up their sleeve, or will Herndon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
