The Scotland Fighting Scots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. The game between them and Southern Lee wasn't particularly close, with Scotland falling 69-51. While losing is never fun, Scotland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 363rd, while the Cavaliers are ranked 87th).
Scotland's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jonathan Graham, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Graham continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Dylan Lampley was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds.
Scotland's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-12. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Southern Lee, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Scotland won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Rams at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Collin Sampson and Jaquez Caldwell. As for Southern Lee, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pinecrest has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
