The McDonogh Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the John Carroll Patriots at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
McDonogh barely beat Glenelg Country the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles never let the Dragons get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Thursday. The Eagles have beaten the Dragons the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Dragons has come to flipping the script.

Chase Ginsberg tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over 4.1 innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, McDonogh got a massive performance out of Andy Lambert, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Lambert has become a key player for the Eagles: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Jake Maass also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Ten must be John Carroll's lucky number: they beat Havre de Grace with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Patriots didn't even let the Warriors on the board, marking the Patriots' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The victory was nothing new for the Patriots as they're now sitting on four straight.
Jack Hudson looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Will Rhine and Casey Carpenter did most of the damage at the plate: Rhine got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Carpenter went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Dallas Brooks, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and two RBI.
John Carroll's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for McDonogh, their record now sits at 8-4.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. McDonogh has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .490. However, it's not like John Carroll struggles in that department as they've averaged .443. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
