The Los Amigos Lobos will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Walnut Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Los Amigos is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
With a playoff game on the line, Los Amigos rose to the challenge on Friday. They came out on top against San Gabriel by a score of 28-20.
Pedro Hernandez was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Hernandez has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maysen Navarro, who rushed for 38 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Walnut was able to grind out a solid win over Silver Valley on Friday, taking the game 27-16. The win made it back-to-back wins for Walnut.
Among those leading the charge was Demetrius Stampley, who rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown.
Los Amigos pushed their record up to 7-4 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Loara (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36.4% over those games). As for Walnut, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season.
