Macomb Area - Silver recap September 17, 2013
Juan Johnson of Madison ran for the longest rushing play in Macomb Area - Silver this season against Warren Woods-Tower last week. Johnson ran for 70 yards on the play and finished with 138 on the day as his team defeated the Titans.
East Detroit scaled the state rankings by moving to 466 from 525 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Shamrocks were able to make move up by topping Lamphere 47-7.
Madison's dynamic duo of Matthew Crews and Jaylin Golson proved to be unstoppable against Warren Woods-Tower, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Crews threw for 52 yards and Golson had 23 yards receiving. Johnson helped Madison's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 29 yards.
Drake Wilkins' team's dynamic duo of Crews and Golson proved tough for Mike Mahar's team to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Martell Pettaway was the best running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 247 yards as South Lake beat the Titans. Teammate Lance Mitchell added to the ground attack by rushing for 28 yards.
Golson was the best receiver in Macomb Area - Silver this week as Madison topped Warren Woods-Tower.
Pettaway provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Cavaliers bested Fitzgerald.
Pettaway was a force in the backfield as South Lake beat the Spartans.
Crews put up the best numbers in passing as the Eagles defeated the Titans.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place South Lake takes on second place Madison. Last week, Nick Marrogy's team beat Fitzgerald, while Madison topped Warren Woods-Tower.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when the Cavaliers' Jalen Dingle goes up against the Eagles' Isiah Peterson.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when South Lake and Madison face off next week. Parashaun Cunegin has thrown for 184 yards and 3 touchdowns this season, while Daviyon Jones has terrorized opposing QBs to the tune of 1.5 sacks.
Next week's game between the Cavaliers and the Eagles will feature a good passing match up as Cunegin will test his arm against Peterson's defensive ability.
The league will see a high scoring game when South Lake and Madison face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Cavaliers comes in having scored 106 this season, while the Eagles have scored 121. South Lake scored 60 points last week as it topped Ken Briere's team.
The Rams lost to East Detroit 47-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
