AAAA Region 7B recap Oct. 16, 2012
Ridgeland extended the longest winning streak in AAAA Region 7B this week by beating Southeast Whitfield County, 42-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Panthers.
Dalton and Northwest Whitfield played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Dalton eventually emerging with a 24-19 victory. Laighton Reese in the win.
Dalton's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Catamounts feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Cole Calfee has thrown for 634 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Brandon Dale has 23 catches for 441 yards. Kelvis Rhodes leads the league in rushing with 741 yards.
The top two teams in AAAA Region 7B will face off this week when first place Ridgeland takes on second place Northwest Whitfield. Ridgeland bested the Raiders last week, while the Bruins fell to the Catamounts.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Northwest Whitfield takes on the Panthers. The Bruins have allowed 95 points this season, while Ridgeland has given up 106. Northwest Whitfield allowed 24 points last week as it lost to Dalton.
The Panthers made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 903 from 1,329. The improvement came about via a 42-7 victory over Southeast Whitfield County last week.
