Basketball Recap: Landy Johnson Key Part of a Team Effort in Tigers Win

Moss Point won the last time they faced Oak Grove and things went their way on Saturday too. The Moss Point Tigers managed a 40-34 victory over the Oak Grove Warriors. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Moss Point's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landy Johnson, who posted 11 points along with seven boards and four steals. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kirsten Bailey, who had nine points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Moss Point smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Moss Point now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Oak Grove, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Moss Point Tigers duke it out with the Greene County Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Moss Point's defense has only allowed 28.8 points per game this season, so Greene County's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Oak Grove, they will head out to face off against Pearl at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
