Edgewood hasn't had much luck against Northview recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mustangs are taking a road trip to challenge the Knights at 7:00 p.m. Edgewood's defense has only allowed 11.7 points per game this season, so Northview's offense will have their work cut out for them.
Things were looking good for Edgewood after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sullivan. The Mustangs were up 14-0 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.
The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Braxton Carpenter and Clark French. French had a great game and rushed for 197 yards and one score while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Carpenter did his best for the losing side, rushing for 123 yards.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Northview, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They strolled past South Putnam with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 48-33. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Edgewood better keep an eye on Colton Bath. He was instrumental in Northview's win, rushing for 255 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 105 yards and one TD. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Bath a new career-high.
Northview didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited South Putnam to a completion percentage of just 50%. The team can thank Slade Fell for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Northview; they were averaging 62.8%completion percentage earlier this season, but in their last three matchups they've fallen to only 62.8%.
Edgewood's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for Northview, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
Edgewood was taken down by Northview 41-7 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Mustangs were down 38-0.
