On Saturday, the Colorado Academy Mustangs faced the Golden Demons in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Colorado Academy enjoyed a cozy 54-38 win over Golden. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Colorado Academy has scored all year.
Colorado Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was George Buyers out in front who scored 14 points. The matchup was Buyers' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Clayton Johnson, who scored 12 points.
The victory for Colorado Academy keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Golden, their loss dropped their record down to 5-1.
Colorado Academy will be playing at home against Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Lutheran focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday. Golden will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Cheyenne Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on December 14th.
