The Whitesboro Bearcats and the Bushland Falcons squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly the Whitesboro Bearcats had to settle for second. Whitesboro was dealt a 60-19 defeat at the hands of Bushland. While losing is never fun, Whitesboro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 428th, while Bushland is ranked 120th).
Whitesboro's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Clay Hermes, who threw for 217 yards and three touchdowns. Brett Donaldson also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Whitesboro's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Bushland, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.
Whitesboro does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Bushland will square off against Paradise at TBD on Friday. Paradise is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
