The North Adams Green Devils are taking a road trip to take on the Western Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (North Adams has six straight victories, Western has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Western's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: North Adams hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Green Devils put the hurt on West Union with a sharp 10-0 win on Tuesday. Considering the Green Devils have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Marnie Tolle and Carlee Garrison were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Tolle pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Garrison didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 20 consecutive appearances. At bat, Tolle went 2-for-4 with three runs, while Garrison went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs Tolle has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Marley Whalen, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Evans, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
North Adams hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Western's offense. They came up short against Clay on Wednesday, falling 18-0.
Western's defeat dropped their record down to 1-18. As for North Adams, their record now sits at 19-4.
North Adams couldn't quite finish off Western in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 8-6. Can the Green Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
