Basketball Recap: Jaimeir Campbell and Papa Laye Secure Win for Lemoore

On ThursdaySierra Pacific kept up with Lemoore until halftime, but afterwards: not so much. Everything went the Lemoore Tigers' way against the Sierra Pacific Golden Bears as the Lemoore Tigers made off with a 78-56 victory. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 22 points or more this season.

Lemoore was led to victory by Papa Laye and Jaimeir Campbell. Laye went 10 for 19 on his way to 23 points and six rebounds, while Campbell went 6 of 7 from beyond the arc on his way to 22 points. The dominant performance gave Laye a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacoby Notah, who posted seven points and three steals.

Loss or not, Sierra Pacific got some senior leadership from Colin Dodd and Nevin Pitkin. Dodd put up 21 points and seven rebounds, while Pitkin had 16 points. Pitkin has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 11 times he's played. Owen Parry was another key player, putting up six points.

Lemoore has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for Sierra Pacific, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.

Lemoore and Pleasant Grove will round out the year against one another at at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pleasant Grove is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.3 points per game this season. As for Sierra Pacific, they will square off against Pacifica at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
