Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fayette Academy). They put the hurt on the Fayette Ware Wildcats with a sharp 17-2 win on Monday. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by 14 runs or more this season.
JoAnna Bond was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Bond was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Kasey Kimery was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and two stolen bases while going 3-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hannah Fly, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Fayette Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fayette Ware only posted an OBP of .417.
The victory got Fayette Academy back to even at 3-3. As for Fayette Ware, they dropped their record down to 3-5 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Looking ahead, Fayette Academy will venture away from home to take on Haywood at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fayette Ware, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Fayette Ware Wildcats face off against Lakeland Preparatory Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
