Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Ida Baker walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Gateway Eagles on Thursday as they made off with  a  7-0 victory. Considering the Bulldogs have won nine matches by more than six  runs this season, Thursday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Michel Valdes made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run and  allowing only two  hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. He also  tossed  no  walks, which is notable because Ida Baker is 2-1 when he allows at  most  one  walk, but 11-12 otherwise. Valdes was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-3 with three  RBI and one  double. That's the most  RBI  he has posted since back in February.
 Valdes wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Robbie Hensley, who  went 1-for-3 with two  RBI and one  run.
The  win  got Ida Baker back to even at 13-13. As for Gateway,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 15-8.
As of now, neither Ida Baker nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
