5A North Metro recap November 19, 2013
Fairview extended the longest winning streak in 5A North Metro this week by beating Pomona, 35-24. The win marks 11th in a row for the the Knights.
Fairview led the league in scoring this week by notching 35 points on the Panthers. Anders Hill threw for 222 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 84 yards during the win.
Chris Marquez was a force in the backfield as Pomona fell to Tom McCartney's team.
He was 21-25 with 1 interception.
Sam Martin was the best wideout in the league this week as the Knights topped Jay Madden's team. Martin tallied 10 receptions for 119 yards. Owen Harris helped Fairview's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 44 yards.
Fairview's Hill and Martin have formed a dream team this season, leading 5A North Metro in both passing and receiving yards. 6-4 quarterback Hill has thrown for 3,321 yards this season, while Martin has 92 catches for 1,604 yards. The Panthers' Marquez leads the league in rushing yards with 2,448.
In 125 carries Claude Neloms has accumulated 964 yard this year.
Marquez broke off the longest rushing play in the league this week with a 77-yard run against the Knights. Marquez closed out the game, recording 257 yards on the ground as Pomona fell to Fairview.
