It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Weldon Chargers can now relate to. They were beaten by Wilson Prep 50-8 on Friday. Weldon was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 22-0.
Leading Wilson Prep to victory were Xavier Williams and Khamani Barnes. Williams rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, while Barnes rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. Barnes was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards. Christian Richardson made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Weldon's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Wilson Prep, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Weldon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Wilson Prep's homestand continues as they prepare to take on North Moore at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. North Moore is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
