Volleyball Recap: Pettisville Takes a Loss

If Pettisville was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Gorham Fayette on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Blackbirds fell just short of the Edon Bombers by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Blackbirds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bombers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Loss or not, Pettisville got some senior leadership from Grace Hastings and Naomi Richer. Hastings had 14 digs and two aces, while Richer had 28 digs and two assists. Hastings has been hot for a while, having also posted 13 or more assists the last 29 times she's played.

Leading Edon to victory were Genna Ripke and Avery Aldrich. Ripke had 45 assists and 11 digs, while Aldrich had 34 digs and one assist. Those 34 digs gave Aldrich a new career-high. Ella Osborn was another key player, getting ten digs and one assist.

Pettisville's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-3. As for Edon, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Pettisville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Montpelier on the 28th. As for Edon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-2 victory against North Central on the 28th.
