Jefferson has won five straight games at home, while Wharton has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Dragons will host the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Jefferson 4, Wharton 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Tuesday, Jefferson got the win against Robinson by a conclusive 10-1. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
Ja'Marques Benton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on KJ Sampson, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Nate Brewer, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Jefferson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .387 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Wharton owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Strawberry Crest 2-0.
Daniel Duno tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched.
At the plate, Wharton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Justis Meadows, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Jefferson has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Wharton, their victory bumped their record up to 17-3.
Jefferson skirted past Wharton 3-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Dragons repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
