Softball Recap: Benet Academy's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

Benet Academy was the 4-3 winner over Joliet Catholic when they last played one another on Saturday, but their luck changed this time around. The Redwings took a 15-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hilltoppers on Saturday. The Redwings' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Sophia Rosner put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Hannah Baer and Esther Lynn Rossi stepped up to the plate in a big way. Baer scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Rossi scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Rossi also put up two RBI, which were her first of the season.

Benet Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Joliet Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Benet Academy will square off against Yorkville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Redwings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Foxes have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Joliet Catholic, they will head out to take on Kankakee at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
