The Tonopah Valley Phoenix lost against the Kingman Bulldogs back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Tonopah Valley fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 57-54.
Several Phoenix players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Quintin Keys, who scored 20 points. Keys is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Sir-Izzik Sanchez-Caldwell was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Kingman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Naliq Davis led the charge by scoring seven points along with six assists and six steals. Davis hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Wesley Larson, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Tonopah Valley's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Kingman, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-9.
Tonopah Valley will head out on the road to square off against the Guardians at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully American Leadership Academy - West Foothills focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday. As for Kingman, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Shamrocks at 7:00 p.m. Yuma Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matchups -- so hopefully the Bulldogs like a good challenge.
