DeSoto is 6-1 against Mansfield since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The DeSoto Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Mansfield Tigers at 7:00 p.m. DeSoto is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
DeSoto and Duncanville (ranked seven and 16 in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile matchup. DeSoto took down Duncanville 49-35 on Saturday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
DeSoto's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Darius Bailey, who threw for 268 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes. Marvin Duffey and his 103 yards on the ground were also a key factor in DeSoto's victory.
Mansfield can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 27-25 victory over Skyline.
Marquise Hubbard was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a touchdown.
DeSoto's win was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-0. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 28.5 points. As for Mansfield, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
DeSoto was able to grind out a solid win over Mansfield when the teams last played back in November of 2022, winning 28-16. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Mansfield's Sergio Kennedy, who rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be that much easier for DeSoto to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
