The Etowah Eagles are on the road again on Saturday and plays the Creekview Grizzlies at 3:30 p.m. on February 10th. Etowah has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Etowah put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 68-25 victory over Allatoona on the road. Given Etowah's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while Allatoona is ranked 399th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Even though Creekview has not done well against Sequoyah recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Creekview was the clear victor by a 65-44 margin over Sequoyah. The win was familiar territory for Creekview who now have three in a row.
Creekview's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashlynn Bleisath, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kailyn Hamby, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Etowah's victory bumped their record up to 14-11. As for Creekview, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season.
Etowah didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Creekview when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 42-36 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Etowah since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
