Baseball Recap: Spanish Fork Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Spanish Fork extended their postseason success on Saturday against Clearfield. They put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 7-1 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-0 on Friday.

Jackie Sorenson was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Boston Duvall was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Spanish Fork was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win was the third in a row for Spanish Fork, bringing their record up to 11-16. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Clearfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-14.

Looking ahead, Spanish Fork will head out on the road to face off against Alta at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Dons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. Clearfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
