Tabb is 0-10 against New Kent since April of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. Tabb will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against New Kent at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Tabb's victory against Jamestown wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Tabb won by a run and slipped past Jamestown 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since May 3, 2024.
Milenah Camacho spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Mika Hilburger was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, New Kent had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past York 18-5.
Abbie Kegley was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and seven RBI while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, New Kent let Hannah Tober and Kenley Rowe run wild. Tober scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Rowe scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Rowe a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Leonard, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.
New Kent always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as York only posted an OBP of .364.
Tabb suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to New Kent in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will Tabb have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
