Kermit is 1-9 against Presidio since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Kermit will venture away from home to square off against Presidio at 5:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Presidio will be up against a hot Kermit squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Kermit was the clear victor by a 17-2 margin over Anthony on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Aliha Saenz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Saenz was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Kermit got a massive performance out of Hadley Hardaway, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs Hardaway has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Isabella Urquidi, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Kermit always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .742. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .513 or higher in seven consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Presidio had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Tornillo 16-4 on Friday. The Blue Devils not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 14th.
Like Kermit, Presidio also got a great game from a two-way player: Kesara Olivas. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave Olivas a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. She also brought in two RBI, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Presidio let Miriam Lara and Caro Lares run wild. Lara scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Lares scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. With that strong performance, Lares is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Lia Zubia also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Kermit's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Presidio, their record is now 2-11.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Kermit hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .447. However, it's not like Presidio struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Kermit suffered a grim 11-3 defeat to Presidio in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Kermit avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
