The West Valley Eagles's game last Wednesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 68-59 win over Lassen. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
West Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chase Kalnins, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Jordan Heacock was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Lassen lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Joey Harrison, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 17 rebounds. Harrison hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Finks, who scored 13 points along with seven assists and two steals.
West Valley's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-13. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.0 points per game. As for Lassen, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-13 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Valley will take on Anderson at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Anderson likes a good challenge. As for Lassen, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Oroville at 7:00 p.m. Lassen is facing Oroville at the right time seeing as Oroville is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
