Jamarion Pegues Crosses Big Stat Threshold
Starting off the list is Oxford's Jamarion Pegues, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Pegues rushed for 190 yards and two touchdowns. The performance once again pushed his average rushing yardage north of 100 yards per game (121.7). Those 190 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.
Oxford moved to 2-4 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. Pegues' next contest is against DeSoto Central on Friday, where he'll look to repeat that solid performance.

If history really does repeat itself, Perry might just drop another big game when he faces off against Oxford on Friday. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Perry saw the Chargers), he rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and also threw for 184 yards and two touchdowns on only 17 passes.

A Season-Best Effort from Jason Edwards Jr Leads Horn Lake over Oxford

With the defeat, Horn Lake broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-2. Edwards Jr and Horn Lake will be playing in front of their home fans against Hernando at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Friday, DeSoto Central got the W thanks in part to Lenden Fairley playing the best football he has all season. Fairley rushed for 130 yards and a touchdown, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 65 yards.
On the season, Fairley has run in 5 touchdowns while averaging 85.8 rushing yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after five games last season, he had one rushing touchdown.
