The Milford Bearcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Oakwood Comets at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Oakwood took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Milford, who comes in off a win.
Milford lost a heartbreaker the last time they played South Newton, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's matchup. The Bearcats were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Rebels on Saturday. The Bearcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by seven runs or more this season.
Kami Muehling made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Addison Lucht was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Sydney Seyfert was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Oakwood unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Danville by a score of 5-4.
Like Milford, Oakwood also got a great game from a two-way player: Ashtyn Dailey. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). Dailey was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Irene Rangel made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Caydence Vermillion, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Milford's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Oakwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Milford hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Oakwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Milford came up short against Oakwood in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, falling 17-12. Can the Bearcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
