Brevard is a perfect 10-0 against North Henderson since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Brevard Blue Devils will head out on the road to square off against the North Henderson Knights at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Brevard has five straight wins, North Henderson has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Brevard's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against T.C. Roberson as Brevard made off with a 7-0 victory. Fans of the Blue Devils have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Emma Bailey was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Claire Wilson was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Ava Rogers also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Brevard hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, North Henderson came up short against Smoky Mountain on Tuesday, falling 17-5.
Mollie Spear made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Simpson, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three RBI.
Brevard pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for North Henderson, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
North Henderson's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Brevard has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for North Henderson, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Brevard keep running through batters, or will North Henderson buck the trend?
Everything went Brevard's way against North Henderson when the teams last played last Tuesday, as Brevard made off with a 17-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brevard since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
