The Taconic Hills Titans are taking a road trip to square off against the Albany Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Taconic Hills is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
On Wednesday, Taconic Hills got the win against Catskill by a conclusive 14-5. Considering the Titans have won 11 matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Francis Conners-Schmid and Charlie Schrader did most of the damage at the plate: Conners-Schmid went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Schrader went 4-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave Schrader a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Hartka, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.
Taconic Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .587. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Albany hadn't done well against Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Falcons came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 8-4. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Falcons as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
The team relied heavily on Gavin Cramer, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Seamas LeBuis, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Taconic Hills pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Albany, their record is now 5-7.
Albany's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Taconic Hills hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .312. It's a different story for Albany, though, as they've only averaged .206. Will they be able to contain Taconic Hills' hitters?
Everything went Taconic Hills' way against Albany when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Taconic Hills made off with a 9-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
