The Ponaganset Chieftains will be playing at home against the Scituate Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ponaganset has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Thursday, Ponaganset didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Scarlet Knights, but they still walked away with a 49-44 win.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Scituate, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 55-37 loss to the Scarlet Knights on Saturday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Scituate in their matchups with the Scarlet Knights: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite their defeat, Scituate saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Andy Vigeant, who scored 11 points, was perhaps the best of all.
Ponaganset's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-9. As for Scituate, they dropped their record down to 2-14 with that loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Ponaganset against the Spartans in their previous meeting back in February of 2022 as the squad secured a 65-31 victory. Will Ponaganset repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
