The Sahuarita Mustangs pushed their score all the way to 55 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Baboquivari by a score of 58-55. Sahuarita lost against Baboquivari in their previous head to head on Thursday, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 59-50 score last time.
Sahuarita lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alejandro Vega, who scored 14 points along with six assists and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Torres, who scored 15 points.
Sahuarita's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Baboquivari, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-4.
Sahuarita will be home for the holidays to greet Sunnyside at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: XAVIER LEYVA and Vega. Baboquivari's road trip will continue as they head out to face Apache Junction at 7:00 p.m. on December 18th. Hopefully Apache Junction focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Wednesday.
