The Avon Eagles can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 55-40 win over Midview. This was payback for Avon, who suffered a 56-52 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Avon's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Molly Drenik, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds. Drenik is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last 11 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Amelia Holbrook, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Avon pushed their record up to 12-10 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.7 points per game. As for Midview, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.
Avon will be playing in front of their home fans against Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Midview, they will head out on the road to take on Mayfield at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
