The Statesboro Blue Devils had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 53-51 victory over Ware County. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Statesboro also won the last time the pair played two weeks ago.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Statesboro to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kamron (kam) Mikell, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Devin Mikell was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.
Statesboro has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Ware County, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-9.
Statesboro won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on February 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Georgia (Bradwell Institute is ranked 37th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 47th). Ware County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
