Waynedale took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Tuscarawas Central Catholic Saints 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Golden Bears have posted since September 16, 2024.

Waynedale had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-16, 25-11.

Among those leading the charge was Mya Spitler, who had eight aces and three digs. Those eight aces gave her a new career-high.

Coincidentally, Waynedale and Tuscarawas Central Catholic will both be playing Garaway the next time they take the court. The Saints will head out to face the Pirates at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Golden Bears will play them later in the day, at 12:00 p.m.
